Wool Coat: Ann Taylor |
If you have been seeing blush tones everywhere, from pants to coats, from bralettes to shirts, that's because blush is currently having a moment. As a person who doesn't like pink, it may come to a surprise that it has become one of my favourite colours in the past couple of years. In fact, I use it as a neutral in clothing and mainly stick to shades of blush when it comes to my nail polish, it is definitely my go-to.
Here are a few things that I have learned when looking to wear this trend:
There are many blush tones and it's important that you try on a few shades until you find one that best suits your skin tone. I was feeling the warmer temperatures during this shoot so I paired my blush toned wool coat with a pair of crisp, white, cropped jeans. When I bought this coat, they didn't have the same one in petite sizes so the sleeve length was a big longer than I wish to wear and I will be having it altered. This coat however is perfect as a transitional coat as temperatures slowly begin to rise. It's also light enough that you can layer a thin sweater without adding bulk.
I know I have said this before in a past post but it is imperative that light coloured clothing be kept in pristine condition! It's so hard to keep this colour clean and bright but my love for soft shades is stronger than the thought of not wearing it because of the intimidating light shade. I know most of us feel like we have a huge target sign on us when we wear soft colours but as we head into Spring, I assure you, the risk is worth it! Make sure to dry clean your wool coats, keeping them in great condition; this will also help keep your coats for several years. If you are looking for more tips on having your coats well-kept, feel free to read this post.
Pairing: Fashion has become so fluid that you can pretty much mix and match patterns and colours until your heart is content. I'm a sucker for classic styles so that being said, here are my favourite pairings for this soft pink.
Blush and Grey
Powder Blush and Navy Blue
Dusted Rose and Olive Green
Pale Pink and White
I have rounded some of my top Blush picks for Spring '17. Enjoy blushing!
