Since joggers made their debut, I've been on the hunt for ones that feel and look good on a petite frame. After months of searching, I finally settled on the Talula "Los Feliz" pants from Aritzia. I bought them in black but they are also currently available in grey and olive green. Although Aritzia doesn't particularly carry petite sizes, their sizes begin at xxs.
These have to be one of the most comfortable pants I have ever worn (aside from sweats). They are such a nice change from my (mostly) skinny pants hanging in my closet. First of all, they are so soft and lightweight that you feel like you are wearing pjs! Another feature that I loved (even though it may sound strange) is that they have pockets. I usually stay away from pants with pockets as they usually add bulk. Many of my pants have the pocket line but no pockets, it really helps to keep things clean and streamlined. Another feature I loved was the design running down the side of the pants. It kind of reminded me of the tuxedo pant, however it's a much smaller line compared to that of a tuxedo. When I saw them for the first time, I knew I had to get my hands on them although I wasn't sure if the style would look on a petite. It was a look that I had fallen in love with but so many times, it becomes a lot harder to pull off when you are 5 feet tall! Once I tried them on though, I was sold. There are however, a few things to keep in mind with this style, especially if you are under 5"5.
First of all, I recommend using heels with this look. I used a nude shoe to help elongate the legs but I would use a high heeled sandal in warmer months. We are still in the last couple of days of winter (yay!) so we still have to wait a few more weeks until we break out the sandals in Toronto! Adding strappy sandals and a trench would dress these pants up, but you could definitely dress them down.
When choosing a top to go along with joggers, I recommend using a more fitted shirt in order to contrast the looser pants. I've seen this look being done with a bodysuit which gives you an edgier look however, I styled mine with a soft draped blouse that can be worn to work or out on date night. I just threw a leather jacket over this to complete the look.
As I had mentioned before when I blogged about caring for wool coats, I mentioned that I always read the labels as I need to make sure that I can commit to caring for whatever it is I'm buying. I would just like to note that these pants have to be hand washed. How do you guys feel about the joggers? Are there any you particularly like?
