Summer Staples: My Favourite Pieces for the Summer

I went to purchase some decor accents today and I was taken aback at the fact that Thanksgiving decor had already made its way onto the shelves. Can we just take a moment and soak in the Summer? I mean, it's only mid-July! I may be biased here as my favourite season is Summer so I'm in no hurry for pumpkin spiced-anything right now. I'd rather bask in the warm sun, the long summer days, gelato, fresh cut grass, iced coffees and the list goes on and on. Toronto has been having an amazing Summer so far and it's been a hot one. With that in mind, I've put together a list of a few of my favourite pieces for the season. If you're looking to add some Summer staples to your wardrobe, here are the best of the season!

Mustard Yellow:

In case you've missed it, yellow is everywhere this year and I imagine it will transition right into Fall so get those mustard coloured pieces in your wardrobe now! Yellow is usually a difficult colour to pull off but somehow, the richer hues have made an impact on the fashion industry and can be found on most brands. I usually like to stick to classic pieces but I did incorporate this trend with a crepe-like shirt from Zara. It's lightweight and the cut is so flattering. It also comes in white and black for those who'd rather opt for the neutrals.

The IT bag "Rattan:"

Round, bucket, totes, backpacks....basically every shape and size you could imagine. These cute bags can take you from the beach to a day of shopping. I've rounded up a few of my faves below and they all start at about $50. When I'm not using my bags, I stuff them with the paper that they came with so they maintain their shape. I also stand them up on a shelf in my closet to

The Button-Down Dress:

You've probably already seen a version of this dress everyday this Summer and that's because they are simple, airy and so dreamy. The white linen ones from Zara are by far my favourites of the season and come under $80.

Paperbag Shorts:

Definitely one of my favourite trends at the moment. It's hard not to continue adding more to my wardrobe! Wear with a body suit or a top that you can tuck into them to showcase the cute paperbag detailing.

Floral Print Midi Dress:

The romantic floral midi dresses are back this season and although they can be found in every imaginable colour, the sunny yellow ones are the ones that seem to be favouring! Here are a few of my favourite picks from Asos.

The Ruffle Wrap Dress:

It's hard not to get addicted to this cute silhouette and they are so flattering. Find these dreamy dresses in every colour and print. Topshop has some of my favourite wrap dresses this Summer.
